Wintley Phipps, Founder of the U.S. Dream Academy, said, “We may have all come over on different boats, but we’re all in the same boat now.” This statement is particularly significant as we continue to age as a society. In this country, we will soon see the greatest shift in the age of our population in history. This shift will dramatically change the way we live and give rise to a whole new set of innovations, choices and challenges to not only our aged brothers and sisters, but also to those who come after us in this lifetime.
Northfield Retirement Community continues to lead in the area of innovation and choice for our residents, families and neighbors. During the past year, we offered our first published Community Update to show the steps we are taking to assure that we provide the best services possible in the Cannon Valley area. This publication provided a spotlight on our residents and a picture of our organization’s commitment to excellence, service and ministry.
We are truly fortunate to have such dedicated, talented staff and volunteers who offer their hands to provide service for all of our residents and family members. These hardworking individuals give new meaning to our calling to love and serve our neighbors.
Yet, when I reflect on this service, I am reminded that it is we who have truly received the gift of the times. As in the book of Deuteronomy 32:7, “Remember the days of old, consider the years long past; ask your father, and he will inform you; your elders, they will tell you.” Each and every day our residents give us interesting history lessons, stories of courage, and inspiration for the future. Our residents have such a wealth of intelligence. As we see the coming of the great age wave, let us all remember that there is much to be learned from the past in guiding our footsteps and decisions in the future.
On behalf of all of the residents, families, staff and Board of Directors, thank you for your service to our organization.
Serving in God’s work through our hands,
Kyle R. Nordine, LNHA
President & CEO
