NRC Joins 2012 Northfield Garden Tour

Northfield Retirement Community recently announced that it will be part of the 2012 Northfield Garden Tour hosted by the Northfield Garden Club. This year's tour — held Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 — includes six residential gardens plus the garden at NRC. Each garden will include a resident artist who will showcase his or her work and also have items for sale. While tickets are not needed for NRC's leg of the tour, the other stops require a ticket (available at Knecht's Nursery or Eco Gardens in Northfield).

NRC master gardener Karen Adams spearheaded the effort to include NRC in the tour. Adams, along with a host of residents and volunteers, keeps NRC's five courtyards, two ponds, LifeTrail system and other areas blooming and cheery.

"Karen does an amazing job," said NRC President & CEO Kyle Nordine, LNHA. "Our campus is gorgeous and much of the credit goes to Karen and the many residents and  volunteers who work with her. Landing a spot on the Garden Tour gives us a chance to showcase our beautiful spaces."

Adams said, "I especially enjoy working with the youth who volunteer here. Our residents develop strong bonds with them and that is enriching for both generations."

She continued, "I'm excited that the Garden Tour will be coming to NRC this year. We work really hard to make sure our residents live in place that makes them proud. This is a great chance for those who don't know much about NRC to stop by and see our gardens and all the great things happening here."
