Free National Diabetes Prevention Program Begins February 1

In collaboration with Rice County Public Health and Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency on Aging, Northfield Retirement Community is offering a free National Diabetes Prevention Program workshop series, beginning Wednesday, February 1.

Have you been told that you are at risk to develop diabetes? The National Diabetes Prevention Program, known as “I Can Prevent Diabetes,” will be offered in Northfield starting in February, and it may be just the program you are looking for!

The program is a lifestyle change program that supports healthier eating, incorporating physical activity into daily life and improving problem-solving and coping skills. Additional topics include dealing with stress, setting goals, overcoming barriers and staying motivated. Classes are facilitated by a trained leader, and participants meet one hour weekly for the first 16 weeks of the program, and then meet less frequently for a total of 26 sessions.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays, February 1–May 17, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., with an additional 10 sessions through January 10, 2018, at Northfield Retirement Community, 910 Cannon Valley Drive West, Northfield.

This workshop series is free but pre-registration is required  by January 30. Please call Lynnette Tupy at 507-665-9090 to register or register online at www.WellConnectSEMN.org.
