Brian and Karla Randolph

Family Moments at NRC

Karla and Brian Randolph have something special in common with Dallas and Kayla Amy – both pairs have the unique opportunity to spend their days at Northfield Retirement Community working alongside family members!

Karla, ParkView kitchen supervisor, has been working at NRC for over 20 years and says that she enjoys being able to serve residents and loves celebrating holidays with them. Karla also gets to spend time with her husband, Brian, who is a part-time receptionist at NRC. “When Brian and I work together, I like giving him a hard time and teasing him,” she says. “It’s fun to see him talk with residents – some of the ladies here really care for him!”

Brian explains that he appreciates the times he gets to work with Karla and see her excel. He has also had the pleasure of knowing many of the residents before they moved into NRC and now has the ability to see them in a new light. “It’s neat to see how well they are treated by Karla and the rest of the staff here,” he says. “It gives me a sense of pride in what NRC does.”

Lead Maintenance Technician Dallas Amy has a tenure at NRC of over 35 years. His daughter, Kayla, has followed in his workplace footsteps. “It makes me comfortable knowing there’s family nearby,” Kayla says.

Kayla has been an activity assistant at NRC for just over a year. She explains that the little moments shared with residents are the best. “When I am able to make residents smile or laugh, whether it’s for a minute or an hour, I know I have done something right.”

Although Kayla and Dallas both lead busy work lives, they are sure to share moments together at NRC. “My dad and I try to eat lunch together every day of our work week,” she says. “It’s a challenge to get that man to slow down for anything, but most days, we work it into our schedules!”
