Moving For Better Balance

Free of Cost Fall Prevention Classes Begin Soon

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and, in turn, restrict their activities. Northfield Retirement Community and Rice County Public Health are teaming up to offer free classes for anyone who is concerned about falling, has restricted activities because of falling concerns, or is interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength.

A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls. Participants will learn what changes can be made to reduce fall risks at home and which exercises can be done to increase strength and balance. They will also set goals for increasing activity. Classes will run Monday, October 15 through Monday, November 12. Participants will meet twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., in the ParkView Activity Room at Northfield Retirement Community, 910 Cannon Valley Drive, Northfield, Minnesota. These classes are free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required by Monday, October 1. Please call Susan at 507-664-7359 or register online.
