Re Convenings Event

Northfield Hosts reConvenings Event

The Convenings featured the Northfield reConvenings event in its weekly e-newsletter. Read on for the article.

Northfield held its reConvening event last week on Thursday, February 8th at the Northfield High School. It was a beautiful, mindful, and meaningful evening full of engaging guests and audience conversation. Among so many highlights, Dr. Henry Emmons led calming mindfulness moments, and returned to the stage for a conversation with Cathy Wurzer on promoting resilience. Dr. Emmons encouraged everyone to "learn to be present with your emotions, they will tell you what you need to know." Northfield also welcomed Rob Hardy, Northfield Poet Laureate, to the stage, to share his original poem "Humbly, Gracefully," created specially for the reConvening event. Rob has shared his poem and it can be accessed online. He also opened up a call to the Northfield community, asking for submissions of poems that address questions on living well and dying well—poetic "living wills."

Thank you to all who attended and supported the event in making it a night to be remembered! In the Northfield News, Cathy Wurzer commented to Philip Weyhe, "When a disease or disability strikes, that’s the time you have to find a way to live creatively."
