Nrc Wellness Class

Recent Article Shows Importance of Healthy Aging Fitness Classes

A recent Star Tribune article shed light on the importance of promoting healthy living classes, citing that research shows these evidence-based health promotions can be a low-cost and effective way to promote health and prevent or manage diseases among adults.

Northfield Retirement Community (NRC) is proud to offer free on-campus programs with trained instructors, including Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance, A Matter of Balance, Living Well with Chronic Conditions and the National Diabetes Prevention Program. Participation is overwhelming, with more than 50 participants attending the workshops so far this year.

"We are excited to offer accessible and convenient workshops here at NRC," says NRC Manor Services Coordinator and trained instructor Lynnette Tupy. "As an instructor, I see firsthand how these programs can enhance the lives of adults and increase their independence and mobility."

Fitness and supporting the whole resident is an important aspect of life at NRC. The Fountain Fitness Center offers many options for fitness, including Functional Fitness classes. A LifeTrail system of exercise stations and groomed walking paths surround the campus. Residents can also find peace and quiet walking along our Pathways of Faith Park in addition to plenty of indoor hallways for walking in inclement weather.
